Kids Love Chores
Should I Be Worried?
A few days ago we were at Home Depot getting a few things for the garden. William said, “I just need a couple sticks of dynamite and a little string.” We were passing a man examining sprinkler parts who burst out laughing. I said to him, “That might be easier to find than the enriched uranium my other son wants!”
This week being the last week of school the children have been bringing home the work they did all year. Among Sam’s half-hearted attempts at fine art I found this little gem:
As much as I enjoy the boys, thank goodness for Lizzie’s perspective! The art she brought home brings me hope in a world in which both explosives and lovely sunsets exist!
Service
Six Pack
Lizzie asked, “What’s a six pack?”
Sam lifted his shirt baring his torso and said proudly, “THIS!”
Car Talk
I overheard Anna in the car saying, “I’m a good girl! I don’t say potty talk! I say, ‘I’d be happy to!'”
Lizzie shared this joke:
Q. What do you say when you get 100% on your math test?
A. It’s a mathterpiece!
I just read this post to Grant and he added his own math joke:
Q: What did the math book say to the pencil?
A. I’ve got lots of problems.
Q: What did the pencil say back to the math book?
A: I’m not a therapist. Solve your own problems!
Apparently every child he has told this joke to at the door entering school this week has loved it.
My Little Scientist
We Find What We Seek
Practical Application
This morning during scripture time Grant shared Acts 20:35, “…It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Lizzie really resonated with this scripture and exclaimed, “Yes! That is right! It is better to give a punch than to receive one!”
I’m so grateful these children are making the scriptures so personal.
Anna’s Prayer For Her Hero
Anna, in a recent prayer said, “We thank thee that William is brave and fearless.”
